Wedding photography

There are a lot of things that go into choosing a wedding photographer - I know that it can be a really tough choice and a really big decision when it comes to your day. And it should be! One of the biggest investments in your wedding day should be your photographer - the thing that lasts the longest after your wedding day will be your wedding photos. (Well… I’ve heard cake can last a while in the freezer too..)

I am totally ok to work with couples who need to take their time with this decision, and I encourage it. Since I am sure you are evaluating all your options here, let me tell you a little more about my process, and how I approach a wedding as a photographer.

My style

My style is probably best described as relaxed, candid and intimate.I approach weddings in a documentary-like way.

I like to capture really lovely, intimate moments that I know you’ll smile at when you see your pictures. I also like to capture wild moments on the dance floor, maybe your grandparents sharing a tender moment together or your best friend surprising you with a ridiculous story in their speech. There is a lot that happens on a wedding day, and the couple can’t usually catch it all! I like to capture those little in-between moments that you didn’t know you missed until you get your images later.

How I shoot

I’m not into super posed photography. You know the stuff I mean, that awkward, cheesy, totally not candid sort of thing. If you have gotten this far into my website, then I’m guessing, you’re not really into that either. However, this doesn’t mean that I am totally hands of! While I don’t normally shoot overly posed shots, I also understand that most people aren’t that comfortable in front of the camera. I work hard to make sure you feel comfortable being yourself, so that we can get shots that reflect who you are as a couple.

My approach

I approach weddings with a deep sense of responsibility. I think it’s a really big, important, wonderful moment in someone’s life, and I always feel the importance of documenting it in a a way that is meaningful!

I like to get to know you! I like to know a little more about who you are, how you met, maybe your engagement story and what you are most excited for on your wedding day. All of this info helps me to get a feel for who you are, so I understand what you are looking for with your wedding photography.

“My wife and I had both our engagement and wedding photography with Rachael. We were very satisfied with her service and responsiveness to our needs and requests. She really took her time to get know us as a couple and this came through in her work. So much so, that we recommended her for my brother's wedding as well.” (Read review on Wedding Wire)

Jake and Ray, married Dec. 2018

“Rachael was a dream to work with. She already was familiar with the area of our wedding. We were both nervous about getting our picture taken because we feel awkward in front of the camera, but she made it easy and made us comfortable every step of the way. She was also open to our ideas for pictures! The pictures turned out great and we even got some the next morning! I would definitely recommend her for anyone looking for a wedding photographer!” (Read review on Wedding Wire)
