How would you describe your shooting style? Do you pose people?
My approach to shooting is candid and documentary/fine art styled. I am relatively unobtrusive when it comes to posing, as I prefer to capture natural moments as they unfold. However, I do use some casual prompts and a I do give guidance to couples during some moments of the day, such as time spent with you as a couple, or time with your families and your wedding party. Those photos are important and sometimes a little guidance is helpful :) Overall, I remain mostly in the background, capturing the day as it happens so that you get a very natural, documentary-style album of images.
What is your turnaround time?
I typically deliver images within 6-8 weeks of the wedding happening. Some months I have less weddings and I am able to turn around a fully edited gallery faster (such as winter months).
I hate being in front of the camera. How do you help make people feel comfortable?
It's not a normal experience to spend several hours in front of a camera, and I totally understand why it makes some people uncomfortable. Here are a few of the ways I work with couples on their big day to help them feel good about being in front of the camera:
I make you laugh. I say silly things, I make you throw confetti, I tell you to make funny faces every now and then. It helps!
Is it too hot outside? Do people need a break? Is it starting to rain? Should we move? Does anyone need water? You can trust that all of these things go through my mind while I’m shooting, and I’ll frequently check in with all members of the bridal party & family to make sure everyone is okay.
I thoroughly explain my processes to all clients before they book. Understanding a little more about what I do can really help you and your wedding party feel comfortable on the big day.
Engagement shoots help! Not all couples want engagement shoots, but I find them really helpful - you get to know me, you get to see how I work, and we get to see what it's like to work together. Engagement shoots are included in all my wedding packages.
I keep an eye out for guests who may not be comfortable with having their photo taken. I am always respectful of all your guests and their requests.
I do my best to capture everything you’ve told me you’d like captured with as little intrusion as possible. After all, it’s your big day and you need to experience it to the fullest. I’m just there to make sure you can remember it for years to come!
Where can I see a full wedding?
Check out my blog if you want to see some of my weddings and engagements I've shot. Bear in mind that this is just a handful of images from events I've shot - If you want to see some full galleries, I’m happy to grab a coffee and show you some!
How do I reserve a wedding date with you?
If you've gotten this far on my website, you hopefully have an idea by now of whether we would work well together or not! I work on a first come, first served basis, so if you want to book with me, all you have to do is contact me using my contact page on this site. I will be in touch within 24 hours, and we go from there. Typically, before finalizing a booking we have a brief phone call to discuss any details or particular requests. No wedding date is fully reserved for any clients without a signed contract and a deposit payment.
How much is your deposit payment?
I require a 30% deposit payment in order to fully book you for your wedding date.
Can we have the raw files?
Nope! I don't give my raw files out to any clients, for a couple of reasons. One, these files are absolutely massive, and most computers don't have the software to be able to even open them. I deliver digital albums full of organized JPG's ready to print! Second, the post-processing that goes into my work is probably one of the main reasons you like my work (things like contrast, colors, tones, etc). By not giving away raw files, I make sure my brand stays consistent. I can assure you that I carefully and slowly cull my images for things like blinking eyes, blurred focus, or small lighting errors - I have no reason to withhold good images from my clients!
Can we meet you?
Of course! Some clients like to meet up before booking with me, and some clients don't mind if the first time we meet is at an engagement shoot. I am located in the Toronto, so sometimes that means arranging a Skype or Facetime call, but I am happy to meet and chat with you before you decide to book!
Do you travel for weddings?
Absolutely! I love to travel, near or far, and I am always happy to travel to a new location for a wedding! Contact me and let me know the details, and I'll work with you to make it happen!
